Speedway Grand Prix – charity action of Superbet and PZM

On 13 May 2023, the second round of this year’s Speedway Grand Prix cycle was held.

The event was accompanied by amazing speedway emotions, but also help for others – the organisers prepared a charity event as well.

The PZM (Polish Automobile and Motorcycle Federation) and Superbet prepared a surprise that day. It was already the 7th edition of the Grand Prix at the PGE National Stadium, and in order to emphasise the fact that the stadium would host the best speedway audience in the world, the organisers had prepared something Extraordinary! For each lap of the Mexican wave performed during the competition breaks at the PGE National Stadium under the coordination of the competition presenter, Superbet donated PLN 7,000 to the PZM Foundation.

As a result of the charity event, Superbet allocated PLN 28,000 for the rehabilitation of former speedway riders.

Education

Education and chess make a perfect team in the Step-by-Step project

Funded by the Superbet Foundation and realized with the support of the Step-by-Step Association and the Kasparov Foundation, the Step-by-step project aims to integrate chess into the school curriculum of Romanian students.

Today, the Superbet Foundation team visited the little students in one of the schools in the capital. The chess-themed game and exercises that the teachers prepared for the students in the class awakened them with overflowing enthusiasm and joy.

At the beginning of the class, each student chose the subject they want to deepen through chess, and depending on their choices, the teachers provided them with a series of interactive games and exercises.

In a single hour, our team went through a carousel of information, from the biggest secrets of mathematics to the “detective” game where we had to discover new words together.

With the help of the SuperGambit boards, but also of the teaching staff, we managed to attract the attention of children of all ages and instill in them the passion and attraction towards the mind sport.

Currently, the Step-by-Step program is carried out in 22 educational institutions benefiting more than 2850 students from all over the country. We want the Step-by-Step project initiated by our partners to expand to as many schools as possible in the country and to give all students the opportunity to discover the secrets of chess.

Romania’s Kirill Shevchenko Wins a Silver Medal at the European Chess Championship

Kirill Shevchenko’s extraordinary performance at the European Individual Chess Championship earned him the title of European vice-champion. The Superbet Foundation brought him in to represent Romania in major international chess competitions, and after winning the national championship, he went on to win a silver medal in a closely fought competition at the European Championship.

Despite not being one of the favorites, the young chess player surprised his opponents with his technique, securing a place on the podium alongside Grandmasters Alexey Sarana (1st place) and Daniel Dardha (3rd place). The battle was close throughout the 11 rounds, and Kirill’s 6 victories propelled him to the top of the rankings.

He began with a win over Elmar Atakishiyev and went on to secure important victories against notable players such as Tim Janzelj, Adam Kozak, Mikhail Kobalia, and Benjamin Gledura. The championship was decided in the last round of the competition, where the Romanian representative played against the current champion, Alexey Sarana. With Alexey tied on points, a draw was a favorable result for him due to the statistical advantage. However, Kirill Shevchenko once again showed his strategic skills and ambition for favorable results.

Both players had experience on their side, but Alexey Sarana did his best to steer the match to a draw.

We are delighted to have Kirill in the Romanian national team, and we wish him the best of luck in future competitions.

A Dream Come True for Young Chess Player Ivano Mocic

The Superbet Foundation provided the young Croatian chess player, Ivano Mocic, with the opportunity to participate in an international chess tournament for the very first time.

Driven by ambition and a passion for the game, Ivano participated in the January chess tournament held in Seville, where he achieved 5 wins out of 9 games played, earning him first place in the category of players with an Elo rating lower than 1700. Notably, he secured victories against more experienced opponents from Kazakhstan, including the best player in his age category.

The Croatian chess player’s exceptional performance also caught the attention of one of the participating Spanish clubs, who extended an invitation for Ivano to play for them in the Spanish Chess Championship.

In the previous year, Ivano broke the 1800 Elo rating barrier for the first time, and he is now motivated to come back stronger with a winning streak. Currently, the young chess player is training with a Grand Master, which is enabling him to prepare for major chess tournaments worldwide.

Participating in the tournament brought Ivano Mocic joy and valuable experience, further inspiring him to make his mark in the world of chess. We were delighted to support him, and we pledge to continue backing him on his chosen path.

Kentos Karate Club shines at World Championship in Italy, winning 9 medals

The Kentos Karate Club partners of the Superbet Foundation had remarkable success at the World Championship in Italy, reflecting hours of training and intense preparation. The young karatekas excelled in Kumite, Team Kata, Individual Kata, and Absolute Kata styles at one of the biggest international competitions.

The competition was intense, and there were several emotional moments during the matches of Timisoara athletes.

Milena surprised the jury with an exceptional performance and achieved a “golden” victory in record time. Milena faced her toughest competition yet, as she was unexpectedly registered in a higher age category (12-13 years old) than she anticipated, but she didn’t let that stop her. She qualified for the grand final after three fiery matches, even though her opponents had an age advantage.

Milena won four matches on points, but her semi-final match was the most dramatic. She initially had a 1-0 advantage, but with only 15 seconds remaining, her opponent took the lead. With time running out, Milena tied the score just four seconds before the final whistle. In the extra time, Milena scored five times in just 50 seconds, winning the gold medal at the World Karate Championship for the first time.

Congratulations to our partners at Club Karate Kentos for being the most medaled club in Romania!

With the help of the SuperPerformances achieved by the Banat club, Romania ranked second in the top countries with the most medals at the competition. We’re proud to announce that the Superbet Foundation’s partners won an impressive 5 bronze, 2 silver, and 2 gold medals. This is a first for the young athletes trained by Sensei Mihai Stanciu, and we couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishments.

We wish the young karatekas continued success in future competitions, and we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for their continued achievements!
