Get ready for the Grand Chess Tour 2023 tournament, where the magic of chess will continue to captivate audiences.
Ten of the world’s most elite players will gather in Bucharest to compete for a prize fund of $350,000, making it one of the most prestigious chess tournaments of the year. Although Magnus Carlsen will be absent from the Bucharest stage, spectators can look forward to an intriguing match between two strong and tactical players – Ding Liren and Ian Nepomniachtchi, ranked No.2 and No.3 in the world.
The tournament boasts an impressive lineup of big names, including Alireza Firouzja, Fabiano Caruana, Wesley So, Richard Rapport, and Anish Giri, who will be competing for the world title. Additionally, the tournament has extended an invitation to Bogdan Deac, the best Romanian chess player, to participate as a wildcard entry.
Ranked 39th in the world, Deac will join Richard Rapport in representing Romania and face off against some of the world’s best players. With such a strong and diverse lineup, the Superbet Chess Classic Romania 2023 promises to be a thrilling event for chess enthusiasts and spectators alike.

Superbet Rapid & Blitz Poland 2023
Superbet Rapid & Blitz Poland is the first rapid and blitz leg of the tour and will include a 10 player round-robin battle for a $175,000 prize fund. The event will feature six full-tour players and four wildcard players including:
- World Chess Champion Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen from Norway
- Grandmaster Radoslaw Wojtaszek from Poland
- Grandmaster Kirill Shevchenko from Romania
- Grandmaster Bogdan-Daniel Deac from Romania
